Copper Country Update|Tuesday|June 18, 2013

It is another beautiful day here at camp!  It may have been early, but that did not stop our awesome campers from having a great time at the waterfront activities! A few cabins were at the blobs and you could feel their excitement. Returning campers knew just how awesome the blobs would be, but some new campers got to experience the blob for the very first time! All of the girls were laughing and screaming in joy as they flew through the air! Here at SpringHill, we do our best to provide campers with unique experiences  they may not get at home. I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t have a blob in my backyard!!!! These are memories that will last a lifetime. I remember my first time on the blob…I was a little nervous for the initial jump off the platform, but all of my cabin-mates were so encouraging that I knew I did not want to miss out on such a cool opportunity!

Emma, a CoCo Camp Classic camper, had a great experience just like I did back when I was a camper. She said:

“My favorite part about the blobs is when you fly through the air when someone else jumps on the blobs!  You get to feel the air and then you go straight in the water!”

This morning has also been filled with good times at the CoCo water slide! Check out some pictures from this mornings festivities:

This morning was also filled with time in God’s Word. Ann, another CoCo Camp Classic camper has been learning a lot about God this week. She said:

I’ve learned that no matter what we should just trust Him in everything because He knows exactly what He’s doing.”

It is such a privilege and joy to hear campers talk about God. God is able to reveal himself to any person, no matter what age or what step of their faith journey they are on!

God has a purpose and plan for each and every camper that is at camp this week, and it is so evident He is working through campers and counselors all day long! He is moving through the campers and staff as they meet, read scripture, and pray together.Take some time to talk to your camper about what new things they have been learning about God when they come home!

Here are some prayer requests for today:
For peace and joy to constantly be in camp
For campers to feel loved and cared for by counselors and other staff
For safety throughout daily activities

Check back tomorrow for more info about what’s happening here in CoCo!

TST | Week 1 | Tuesday | June 18, 2013 |

Hi parents,

It’s Tuesday and your kids are having a blast here at camp. The weather is absolutely wonderful. Temperatures are in the low 70’s with sunny skies and a slight wind gust here and there.

Your kids have been working hard serving around camp. We are so blessed to have them here this week. If we did not have TST camp would not be able to run smoothly! They have also been participating in a lot of different activities around camp, so be sure to check out the pictures posted below!

Last night your kids attended Avenue. Avenue is a time where all of TST gathers in our auditorium. Their crew chiefs put on some funny and serious skits, and there was also a time for worship. We learned that we are all defined by something, and we define ourselves by the world around us, our friends, parents, and the activities we participate in. The problem with this however, is that we allow those things to have the final say, and it creates shame and guilt because we are aimed at becoming something far less than what God desires for us. Shame and guilt create fear which steal from us our God given potential. God created us to be so much more, when we allow God to define who we are, all of the damaging influences no longer have a hold on us.

God is really moving in this place and we are so blessed that you have decided to partner with us this summer! Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers this week and throughout the summer!

We hope you are all having a wonderful day!

New Frontiers | Week 1 | Tuesday | June 18,2013 |

Hi parents!

It’s Tuesday here in New Frontiers and we are so excited about the day! It’s a beautiful day here in Evart! The sun is out and the temperature is in the low 70’s today. Your kids are having a great time on the blobs, zip lines, climbing wall, skate park, and are enjoying each other’s company!

One of our main goals at SpringHill is finding ways to incorporate faith and fun into all of our activities. After each activity, staff will ask your kids how each activity can be related back to their walk with Jesus Christ. We love to hear all of the different answers that your children give us!

Today your kids are learning about sin, and how it hurts our walk with Jesus Christ. One particular verse that your kids will be going over is Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. Over the next few days your kids will learn what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, and what that will look like when they return home!

When you pick your kids up be sure to ask what they learned all week!

Also, please check out some other photos on the Parent Photo Zone at www.springhillcamps.com!

Tonight is a special night, every Tuesday evening in New Frontiers, we have CRUD WARS! Campers separate into two groups. Then, in four different heats, your kids throw a bunch of different items at each other to get filthy and will have a blast while doing it.  The ingredients used in crud wars include: water balloons, flour, shaving cream, and watered down, mashed horse feed. So your kids will be having a lot of fun doing that this evening!

Thanks for checking in! Hope you’re having a great day!

Storybrook Update | Tuesday | June 18, 2013

Quote

It’s been another awesome day at Storybrook today!

Throught the week, we are studying the book of John. Today we looked at how Jesus is a healer. We read how Jesus healed a man at the healing pool in Bethesda. It is has been so encouraging to see how campers get to see Jesus perform miracles on people. Throughout our study of God’s Word, both staff and campers have seen Jesus in new ways.  We sure can grow as we study together in a community! Sophia, a StoBro camper, said: “I learned we need to know God to be close to Him and see Him in heaven”. Campers have been so excited to read the Gospel of John each day!

Today was extra eventful as cabins went to the water castle and the zipline! It is so fun to see campers joyous smiles and giggles as they fly down the zipline!  Some campers have never done anything like the zipline before, so they had quite the experience!

Check out some pictures from the zipline and the water castle below!!!

Please be in prayer as counselors continue to share the Gospel with campers this week in StoBro! Please pray that campers would respond to the Good News that Christ offers us! Continue to check back daily to this blog to receive more updates about the excitement in Storybrook!

Michigan Overnight Storybrook Update Week 1 Day 1

It’s opening week here at SpringHill!!! Woooo!!!!

After a few weeks of training, the staff here at camp have been so excited to finally see your campers here! Storybrook has been so lively…from the waterfront to the high adventure activities, campers have been having quite the exciting first full day!

Campers have loved that the beautiful weather created the perfect day to fly down the mini gusher! Campers have been propelling themselves down the slide, going super fast as they scream in excitement all the way down to the Storybrook lake!! Weee!! More excitement has continued at the Spraypark, where campers have ran and skipped throughout the different activities. It has been wonderful to hear how joyful campers have been in Storybrook today!

Here’s a sneak peek at what campers have been up to at Storybrook:

Not only has our day at Storybrook been filled with tons of fun, we have been talking about God and our relationship with Jesus Christ all throughout the day. Whether a camper visited the Spraypark, flew through the air on the Flying Squirrel, or created a pet rock at the Craft House, counselors have been asking meaningful and intentional questions all day long. Campers have been talking about how they can relate their relationship with Jesus to each activity. Be sure to ask your camper how they saw and experienced God in new, unique ways here at camp when they get home!

We would love it if you could partner with us through prayer….please pray for campers to experience God in new ways, that good friendships form in their cabin groups, for safety, and for campers to really crave more and more of God’s Word. Thank you! Be sure to check back daily to receive more info about what’s happening here in StoBro!

Michigan Overnight Copper Country Update: Week 1 Day 1

Hello from SpringHill! This is our opening week at camp!! We are so excited that campers are here. It has been great to see kids playing six square outside the dining hall, going on the blobs, and checking out the trading post. Walking through camp, we have heard kids’ laughter and voices singing some fun camp songs!

Speaking of fun, today has been filled with great activities. Copper Country campers have been flying through the air after being blobbed, plunging into the cool water! Campers were so excited to experience the blog during their first day at camp. The beautiful sunshine and warm temperature make today a perfect day for some waterfront activities. Woo! What a great way to start off the week!

Campers also saw the first Lunch Time Event skit today, featuring an exciting cast of very unique western characters. The story takes place in the small town ofTumbleweed. Feisty Mad Myrtle is on the loose, trying to poison the town water supply!! Will Sheriff and the Deputy track down Mad Myrtle? Keep checking back each day to find out more about the shenanigans that take place in Tumbleweed! Be sure to ask your kids about the western skits when they get home!!
